So Kieran Lockyear (aka beatsofmusic) came up with this great idea …
To create a mix series called Straight from the Playbox. The concept was to get as many funk and soul DJ’s from around the world as possible to provide a mix of their top ten current favourite records.
The aim is to find out what’s being played out at events near an far and to uncover some great djs who just do there own thing, its a simple format, just ten 45s from your play box, its all about those 45s – Kieran Lockyear
Straight from the Playbox features mixes from some of the best funk, soul, northern soul and rhythm and blues DJ’s from around the world. I’m hooked to the series. Some of my favoutite mixes so far are Ian Wright, Leona Murphy, Ady Croasdell, Gail Smith and Dave B (Heavy Soul Brutha).
