Brighton’s Borderline Records Closes Down

It was with great sadness that I heard the news last weekend that Borderline Records in Brighton, UK closed its doors. I used to make regular pilgrimages to the North Laines in Brighton on record buying trips. But it seems now that the areas record shopping has gone the way of many other places and isn’t quite what it used to be. I remember there being a good half dozen decent second hand record shops in the North Laines. Are any of them still there?

Borderline Records was always one of my regular stops and it’s a huge shame that the shop will be replaced by yet another coffee shop. I’m a huge coffee fan but seriously I’m sure Brghton has enough coffee shops!

Since moving to Australia I’ve often thought that when I do make my first trip back home I will go on a massive record buying trip. But that just might not be possible anymore. It seems the closure of record shops is a common theme in the current financial climate.

Are there any good record shops selling vinyl in Brighton anymore?

Let me know in the comments.
