Dig Music re-launches as Double JBack in October 2013 Dig Music announced that they would be joining the Triple J Family and had big things planned for the station. Today at midday Dig Music was relaunched by Myf Warhurst as Double J.

The newly branded station is aimed towards “listeners aged 30+ who are just as passionate about music as triple j listeners, but who now have a different approach to music and live a different lifestyle.”

Triple J have assured me that funk and soul music as a genre is something they are keen to incorporate into the new station. So with that in mind it’s interesting that today it was announced that Lance Ferguson of The Bamboos will be hosting a weekly show every Saturday night (6-8PM). The new show named Sky High “joins the dots between indie, hip hop, soul and pop, soundtracking your Saturday night”. Not quite the funk and soul music show I was hoping for. But knowing Lance’s taste in music it’s sure to be a great show showcasing quality music from a variety of genres.

One of the things I have always loved about Dig Music was that it provided uninterrupted music 24/7. It seems that Double J will continue to do just that but with the addition of a few select presenters hosting shows throughout the week.
