For the 30th mix in our Guest Mix Series we bring you Toronto’s finest DJ Cher.

Cher Gingras is mum of two from Toronto, Canada and a passionate Rare & Northern Soul (ovo) collector and DJ. She has been collecting records for over 25 years. Classic Soul and Motown were her first loves as it was heard at home regularly as a kid and paved the way for her Northern Soul obsession. Cher credits the Kent LP ‘It’s Torture’ for re igniting her passion and after being a wallflower for almost 20 years she finally dived into the deep end of Northern Soul DJing. Her only regret is that she didn’t take the plunge sooner. She loves seeing eyes light up on the dance floor to tunes they’ve never heard before and people coming up to her in the DJ booth dying to know what she played. It’s all about the joy this music brings. “It’s like an out of body experience at times. It’s hard to put into words… you either get it or you don’t.”

Cher is a radio host and has held residency and guested at various soul parties and events and weekender in Canada and USA including the Keystone State Northern Soul Weekender and is looking forward to more travels with her records soon. Cher is the proud hostess and promoter of Toronto’s Northern & Rare Soul all vinyl dance party – Slow Fizz. She hosts DJ friends from North America and around the globe through livestream events during lockdown. Most recently she has co-founded the Sister Cities Soul Club collective with good friends.
