Leah Weller - FreedomYou’ll recognise that surname, Leah Weller is the daughter of Paul Weller and his first wife Dee C Lee.

At first I listened to this album with a slight pang of trepidation. Being the daughter of the Modfather I did wonder whether his connections would have afforded her some opportunties that were less than warranted.

The album is produced by Steve Craddock, for those aren’t in the know. Steve is the guitarist in Paul Weller’s band, Ocean Colour Scene and also tours with The Specials. Not only an extremly talented guitarist but also a man of very high standards. So with that in mind I needn’t have worried. This album is senstional.

Coming from such good musical ancestry not only on her dad’s side. Her mum sang backing vocals for Wham and The Style Council as well as being a solo artist in her own right. Leah not only has a good set of pipes, her song writing is astonishing.

The album takes in elements of soul, jazz, pop, rock and folk. This melting pot of influences has created something quite unique. Accessible without losing any integrity, these songs will touch and stay with you. A truly talented singer and songwriter. This debut album sets the bar very high. We love it 10/10.

Listen to the album on Spotify, Apple Music or visit Leah’s website to order the CD or Vinyl.
