Dojo Cuts – Ain’t Got No Reason

Dojo Cuts arguably one of Australia’s best funk and soul outfits return with a limited edition vinyl 45 on the Uk’s Last Bastion Records.
Formed in 2008, the six-piece band are fronted by vocalist Roxie Ray. They released two albums for the Record Kicks label. Their self-titled debut released in 2009 recieved plaudits from around the world. Then they followed up with Take From Me in 2012. An album that now sells for up to £400 on the secondhand market. Since then there’s been a clutch of singles for Colemine Records.
Fast forward to 2023 and Ain’t Got No Reason is a slow and sultry number, the band giving Roxie Ray’s voice the space it so deservedly needs. The music behind the voice is stripped back, drums and a repeated haunting guitar line are the main themes. An amazing return to form for the Australian soul and funk band.
On the flip Uptight picks up the tempo. Previously only available on the bands second LP, here it is made available on 45 for the first time. Uptight allows the band to flex their funk muscles and those vocals from Roxie are just pure dynamite! A guaranteed floor filler!
Limited to only 300 copies. Pre-orders are open now and can be purchased from Detour Records.
