Last month Australian funk and soul band Dojo Cuts released their ‘Best Of’ album titled Pieces (Best of Dojo Cuts) on Colemine Records.
Formed in 2008, Dojo Cuts soon became one of Australia’s most loved funk and soul bands. Just like their Aussie contempories The Bamboos, Cookin On 3 Burners, Deep Street Soul and Randa & The Soul Kingdom. They are inspired by the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s but bring their music up to date with a modern twist.
Dojo Cuts released two albums for the Record Kicks label. Their self-titled debut released in 2009 recieved plaudits from around the world. They then followed up in 2012 with Take From Me. Finally self releasing their third album Tommorow’s Gonna Come in 2019.
The band provide a tight and heavy backdrop, as comfortable playing the heaviest of funk through to the sweetest of soul. All providing the perfect platform for the inimitable vocals of singer Roxie Ray.
Pieces (Best of Dojo Cuts) is available on orange vinyl from the Colemine Records website or from Bandcamp.
The latest single form Dojo Cuts is being released this month via Last Bastion Records as a limited edition vinyl 45. For all the details and to pre-order the new Dojo Cuts 45 click here.
